Climbing in the Montafon
The Montafon is a real highlight for climbing enthusiasts. The region is home to numerous climbing routes and 25 via ferratas in the Montafon, which cover a range of difficulty levels and offer exciting challenges for both beginners and experienced climbers. In addition, the climbing gardens in Latschau and Partenen Rifa invite adventurers of all ages and ability levels to test their limits in a safe environment. Breathtaking day tours such as the Gauablick via ferrata, with its 350 metre long cave, which is traversed with a torch, also offers an unforgettable adventure for experienced mountaineers.

Via ferrata Madrisella
Access from the Nova Stoba - Versettla mountain station: At an altitude of around 2,500 metres, a breathtaking view opens up - particularly impressive if you have climbed to the summit of the Madrisella via the new via ferrata on the northern slope. From this side, the mountain presents itself in its angular, majestic form. Down in the valley, the Nova Valley is clearly visible. The climbing scene agrees: "This is one of the most beautiful via ferratas in the whole of Vorarlberg." So, off you go on your climbing adventure!

Via ferrata Hochjoch
Two variants await via ferrata enthusiasts on the Hochjoch: The challenging route C leads from Schwarzsee via the west face to the summit, while the easier route A/B via the Hochalpila ridge offers impressive views of the Rätikon, Silvretta and Verwall. Shortly before the summit cross, a 60 metre long rope suspension bridge awaits, which can optionally be bypassed. Ibex can often be seen in the area!
Via ferrata Gauablick
with cave tour
Experience an extraordinary via ferrata experience with the highlight of a spectacular natural cave - the view from the cave exit into the Gau valley is unforgettable!
The Gauablickhöhle via ferrata leads partly through an ancient natural cave and offers a unique adventure. On the way to the entrance you are surrounded by the imposing walls of the Drusenfluh, Drei Türme and Sulzfluh. After climbing over a few rock steps, you suddenly find yourself in front of a dark cave entrance. You plunge into the depths of the mountain and emerge into the open after about 350 metres. From there, the route continues over several steep steps to the summit of the Rachenkopf.

Via ferrata waterfall in st. Anton im Montafon
The via ferrata above the village of St. Anton in Montafon is a popular destination for three seasons due to its easy accessibility. After a short section in the forest, a stepladder leads upwards next to a rushing waterfall. After a flat section along the edge, the key section (C/D) follows on a slightly overhanging wall. Two rope bridges offer spectacular views of the roaring water and can also be bypassed.

Via ferrata Silvrettasee dam wall
This unique, rather easy via ferrata in Vorarlberg is located directly on the dam wall of Lake Silvretta on the Bielenhöhe, surrounded by the highest mountains in the region. As you climb up the almost vertical wall, you can expect panoramic benches, rope bridges and a twelve-metre-long swinging pendulum, which can also be bypassed. Once you have conquered all the obstacles in difficulty level A/B, you climb out via a platform on the top of the dam and enjoy a magnificent view of the Piz Buin.

Climbing garden Latschau
The Latschau climbing garden is located just a few minutes from the Latschau reservoir and is easy to reach. You can get off at any time if you need to. Another highlight is the impressive view of the mighty Zimba, the Matterhorn of the Montafon, as you climb the steep rocks under the guidance of an experienced guide.

Climbing garden Rifa Partenen
It could hardly be better: Access to the rocks in the Rifa climbing garden takes no more than three minutes from the car park to the right of the Tschambreu Tunnel. The belayer can stand barefoot on the meadow and a log cabin offers shelter, a barbecue area and a water feature. However, the best thing about the Rifa climbing garden is the well-secured climbing routes, a practice via ferrata and, for the particularly brave, the opportunity to abseil down the rock face.

Zimba ascent
The striking silhouette of the Zimba characterises the outer Montafon. The summit can be reached in around 3 to 5 hours from the Heinrich Hueter Hütte, which is highly recommended as an overnight destination. The ascent is via the varied west ridge or, for experienced climbers, via the more challenging east ridge (no via ferrata). The state-certified mountain guides are on hand to help you reach this dream destination safely.
Classic west grade: climbing length 500 metres | climbing difficulty 3+ UIAA
